Rick Mattioli and Liftec Racing, long time competitors in the NHRA Super Street racing division, have made the jump to the NHRA Super Gas class for the 2022 season. 

According to NHRA: “Super Gas entries, which run on a 9.90 index, are primarily full-bodied cars and street roadsters. No dragsters or altereds are permitted.” There are few restrictions in regards to the engines or body styles that are allowed in Super Gas, so this class is home to everything from former Pro Stock and Comp cars, to convertible Corvettes.  

Mattioli’s 427ci Small Block 1967 Camaro fits the bill nicely (read more about Rick’s journey with the Camaro in MotorTrend). 

The team’s first foray into Super Gas was at Atco Dragway (April 22-24, 2022) where Mattioli advanced to the elimination round (before being eliminated).  But, he will get another shot at the Cecil County Dragway the weekend of May 20-21, 2022.
